In August 2010, a very big thing happened for the suburb of Park Ridge and the surrounding suburbs, that has been in abundance for locations such as Greenbank and Browns Plains precincts for some time, a Translink Park and Ride facility with services from Park Ridge to Brisbane City on the P546. This service is operated by Park Ridge TransitBus Qld, who are contracted by Translink to provide the services.
Whilst the services are a large step up from previous options of having to travel to Greenbank, or Browns Plains for passengers who live in suburbs East, South, West, and close proximity North of the facility, an overwhelming number of the Park Ridge Park and Ride passengers consider the current deteriorating level of the services, requires further review and changes to better suit the high demands placed on this service by non Park Ridge Park and Ride passengers.
The PRPAG was formed after it became common story for passengers who had issues and complaints, to be treated with empathy and no action from Translink or PRT.
The P546 services deteriorated in a rapid way and after so many complaints the PRPAG and John Mickel were lobbying for a resolution to overcrowding, Translink route planners then made the situation much worse by using poor planning methods and removed a vital peak hour service from the 4:40pm timeslot. PRPAG protested this change and clearly outlined the effects this would have to the peak services, but once again we were shown a typical example of a public service totally failing to listen to its customers, and they got it totally wrong making the situation worse than before.
PRPAG is your voice, but on a group scale. As an individual you voice does not get heard, but as a group your voice is loud.
